Although today’s forecast was much better it was still after lunchtime before I got any shots in sun, and then it was only weak sun. More disturbingly, one of the sunny shots vanished off the memory card shortly after I had taken it. It was definitely there because I checked the positioning of the loco immediately afterwards. A few minutes later I thought I ought to check it for sharpness but it wasn’t there. I replaced the memory card immediately afterwards to avoid overwriting anything but so far my recovery software has failed to find any trace of the missing pic.

The day was split between the Nürnberg - Cheb and Nürnberg - Schwandorf lines, starting and finishing on the Schwandorf line, west of Etzelwang, and spending much of the morning and midday period on the Cheb line, south of Vorra. Freights seen were generally in line with the times published on the Güterzugkursbuch but there was an extra train on the Schwandorf line, apparently diverted due to moleworks on the Regensburg - Nürnberg line. As if to prove the point, the electric loco was still attached (but obviously not powering).
