Another reasonable day after a slow start. I spent the morning on the Nürnberg - Hof/Cheb line, where all the freights to or from Cheb ran as expected but none of those on the Hof route showed up. Whether this was a consequence of electrification work on the Reichenbach - Plauen - Hof line is unclear. The RE and IRE trains that use the same route seemed to be running as planned.

It took a long time for the cloud to break so the lack of morning trains wasn’t too much of a problem. Eventually, three freights showed up in 20 minutes around midday.

The afternoon was spent on the Schwandorf line where a westbound stone train ran in addition to the two regular freights and the ALEX trains. The sky never really cleared all day although there were more sunny breaks in the afternoon. One good shot in sun at lunchtime and two more in the afternoon wasn’t a bad result for a day that was forecast to be mainly cloudy.
