By the standards of this trip, today wasn’t a bad day, which means it wasn’t particularly good but not a total write off. The whole day was spent on the Oberstdorf branch, mainly around Altstädten, trying to photograph the 2143 shuttling back and forth on the ALEX trains. The morning wasn’t bad with a number of shots in good light, including both the 218 hauled ICs. By lunchtime the sky had clouded over and, although there were plenty of breaks during the afternoon, the vast majority of trains passed in the gloom.
Most trains on the branch are DB Regio services worked by class 612 DMUs, with the odd class 628 appearing on RB services. During the week, class 218 worked push-pull sets are restricted to a handful of early morning and evening trains.
