Back in Germany after three fairly successful days in the Czech Republic. I didn’t get many shots today but did manage to bag a few I’d failed to get in sun before, as well as finding another excellent location, one of the potential spots I’d noted from the train last week. A couple of shots I’d got before were worth redoing as the landscape had changed beyond belief in less than a week with the arrival of warmer weather. A good day overall with only one train I tried to photograph passing in cloud.

Freight traffic on the Schwandorf line appeared to have returned to normal after the May Day holiday but there were fewer trains than expected on the Hof/Cheb line. The empty stock train consisted of two coaches in undercoat and didn’t require the combined effort of two 232s to shift it. I suspect the coaches were tagged onto what would otherwise have been a light engine move. The steel train, on the other hand, appeared to be very heavy and the pair were down to less than 20mph when it passed me.
