According to the forecast this was going to be the sunniest day of the trip or possibly the snowiest of the trip if you believed CNN. I chose not to and set off to get some pictures.
As usual, the day started with a trip on the 07:20 from Chur, train 1221 with 628 on the front. 703 was at Landquart on ECS 8521 and 606 was waiting to follow us up the hill with 811. I got off at Klosters and walked to the first location, halfway to Klosters Dorf, to try the shot of 815 that had eluded me a week or so earlier when the sun dived behind a mountain at the critical moment. This time there was some thin cloud that took the edge off the light at times, particularly when there was a Ge4/4i around. As far as locos went, it was pretty good with 648 on 1025, 619 on 1225, 605 on 815, 606 on 8027 and 651 on 1029.
By 10:20 the light was getting a bit head on and a change of location was called for. I just missed getting to Klosters Dorf in time to catch train 1228 to Saas but there was a bus 10 minutes later that got me there in plenty of time for the next batch of trains. The next two hours were a bit cloudy and I was deprived of shots of 649 on 1033 and 611 on 1237 (oh dear, what a shame). After that the light improved for most of the afternoon and 630, 633, 648, 631 and 701 obliged on uphill trains 1041, 1241, 1045, 1245 and 5047 respectively. The light didn't last long enough to complete the set by getting 651 going up the hill on 1049 but it had gone down earlier without the usual extra coaches on the back, making a going away shot possible for a change.
After a pleasant walk down the hill to Küblis, 633 took me back to Chur on train 1248. Not a perfect day by any means but compared to most days this month, not bad at all.
