Ge6/6ii 705 was booked to work the Glacier Express from Chur to Disentis and back The forecast for Ilanz was reasonable so that’s where I headed. By the time I got to Valendas-Sagogn, it was clear that the forecast was way too optimistic so I baled out and returned to Chur where 632 was backing down onto the Glacier stock and 705 was stabled. I continued in a clockwise direction via Landquart, Klosters, Sagliains, Pontresina, Filisur and Davos to Davos Laret and then returned to Filisur. At no point was the sun out. Locomotive highlights were 702 on the 07:58 Chur – St. Moritz, 706 on Bernina Express 955, 604, 606 and 608 on the Engadin push-pulls, 705 (sounds familiar) on the 11:58 Chur – St. Moritz (seen at Samedan), 602, 609 on the Bergün – Preda Schlittelzüge and 605 and 610 on the Klosters – Davos Sportzüge.

A good day for the golden oldies, if not for the sun. In total, 9 of the 10 Ge4/4i and 6 of the 7 Ge6/6ii were out - remarkable for a weekend. There were lots of extra trains to Arosa for some reason, including one that was double headed by 601 and 607. The rest were Ge4/4ii, probably explaining the number of older engines elsewhere.
