The Ge4/4i turns on the Pontresina – Scuol-Tarasp trains were once again in alignment with best times for the photos I wanted to get, so the day was spent in the Engadin, starting at S-chanf and working up to Madulain before taking a train up to Pontresina for most of the afternoon and finishing high on the hillside overlooking Celerina. My first shot was planned for the bridge west of S-chanf but it was still in shadow until around 15 minutes before the train was due. As the sun got onto the track I breathed a huge sigh of relief and then looked up to see that the only cloud in the sky had formed close to the sun. Sure enough it drifted across at just the wrong moment and scuppered the shot. Definitely one to go back to. The rest of the day went remarkably smoothly with every other shot in full sun right up to the end of the day. The only disappointment was getting white COOP liveried 641 on the 15:02 off St. Moritz, not the best engine to photograph at any time, let alone for a distant shot in snow.

Locomotive highlights were 609 on the Bergün – Preda shuttles, 604 and 606 on the Pontresina – Scuol-Tarasp trains and 601 stabled at Samedan after working RE1125 to St. Moritz.
