Tue 30 Apr 2013

The fourth dismal day in a row and another opportunity to check spots instead of taking phots. There were a couple of interesting workings to brighten the day. Yellow 218.477 worked a two-coach test train south near Meckenbeuren at 09:46, followed some time later by 232.703 on a long train of Fals hoppers, identified as a Roßberg - Friedrichshafen working and hopefully a regular performer at this time as it’s phottable at a number of good locations.

The rest of the day was spent checking out a couple of locations I’d been aware of for years but had never got round to actually pinning down before. These spots were at Bühl and Trieblings, at opposite ends of the Alpsee, west of Immenstadt. At Ratholz, just west of the Alpsee, 223.007 in the old Dispolok mustard and silver livery was seen on a westbound ALEX working, the same loco that was working ALEX services at the time of my last visit to the Allgäubahn.
