Another glorious day after the fog eventually cleared. 113.267 worked IC282 as diagrammed, leaving me well satisfied with this weekend’s bag of shots on the Gäubahn.
It was then time to pick up the tattered remains of the plan for the trip and see what could be made of them. After last week’s dismal results on the Regensburg - Hof line I did consider giving it another go this week but the weather forecast put me off. I could do without driving all that way to sit in the gloom again for days, getting no worthwhile pictures. The original plan had been to cover the Mittenwaldbahn and München - Salzburg/Kufstein lines then slowly work my way back west via the Ulm - Stuttgart and Ulm - Friedrichshafen lines. The Mittenwaldbahn and further east could be done later as a self contained trip from München, so it was off to the Ulm area, where the forecast was good.
The rest of the day was spent around the Aulendorf area, only just over an hour’s drive from Tuttlingen, watching Rabbits doing what Rabbits do. No surprises - all the Ulm - Lindau trains were 218s, IC118 and IC119 were double 218s and everything else was plastic of one sort or another. The Aichstetten oil tanks continued its annoying habit of turning up at the least convenient moment when it’s impossible to get any sort of photograph. Whenever I’ve seen this train in the past it’s always been hauled by an HGK class 66 but this time the loco was from DHC/Ascendos, whoever they are.
