My last day in Germany but the weather wasn’t co-operating. It was overcast, misty and very warm - a vision of greenhouse earth maybe, just like the surface of Venus - no wonder you rarely see good shots taken there. The plan was to start with some pics around Eutingen im Gäu, on the Stuttgart - Singen line. There was certainly enough of interest around with 181s on the first two ICs from Stuttgart, a 185 on another sugar beet train and a 213 out for a spin. All that was missing was good weather.

When the sun gave up trying to come out at Eutingen it was time to look for something else to do. Fortunately there was a plan B as I’d realised that one of the possible routes to my next night’s stop at Chaumont in France took me past the Saverne Gap on the main line west of Strasbourg.
