The rail operations of Foster Yeoman and Hanson (formerly ARC) were combined as Mendip Rail in 1993. Their 8 class 59 locomotives continue to haul stone trains from Merehead and Whatley quarries to destinations in the south but are now owned and operated by Heavy Haul Rail, previously Freightliner.
