The usual three Ge4/4is were out again today, 610 and 603 on the Glaciers between Chur and Disentis and 605 on the turn that the pair had covered yesterday. I went to Trin with the aim of getting the westbound Glacier there but soon gave up as the light was poor, there was a very cold wind whistling through the gorge and I couldn’t get far from the station due to deep snow. After much faffing about, I ended up taking an unsatisfactory shot of the pair leaving Chur. It was almost a parallel departure with 646, unusually working freight 5135, passing seconds before the Glacier left.
Next stop was Bonaduz for a long and exhausting trek through the snow to the Rhein gorge overlook. At least it was worth the effort as the sun came out for an hour or so but didn’t stay long enough to get the Glacier returning. Back at Bonaduz, 605 appeared on cue with freight 5152 from Samedan but freight 5155, in the opposite direction, was a light engine.
That was it for the day, a frustrating experience but not a total disaster.
