My last morning in Altmühltal was spent around Dollnstein. Once again, the weather was co-operative with a little cloud first thing and then clear skies.

It was time to move on, although I’d have been happy to stay longer in Altmühltal.

At 11:00, I left for the Mühldorf area, stopping briefly near Vilsbiburg for a shot of a 218 on one of the few loco worked passengers on the Mühldorf - Landshut line.

The rest of the day was spent around Kastl, on the Mühldorf - Burghausen line, photographing the procession of afternoon freights from Kastl and Wackerwerk to Mühldorf. The line was closed for engineering work between 07:00 and 15:00 so nothing could run early and there was a parade of freights after the blockade was lifted. It was nice to see that some 217s were still in traffic. I stayed in the Gasthof zum Kirchenwirt in Seibersdorf, a few km from Simbach.
