Side Contact
One of the unique Class 504 Bury electric units, with 65450 leading and 77171 behind, prepared to leave Manchester Victoria with the 15:30 to Bury on 30 January 1981. The Manchester - Bury line was unusual in using a side contact third rail energised at 1200V DC. The units were withdrawn when the line was closed in 1991.
