Heavy snow (by British standards) on the 13th and 14th of December transformed the rather boring landscape around Selby into a glorious snowscape. I managed to negotiate a later start at work in return for a truncated lunch hour and set off to find some Deltics on the sunny mornings that followed. The 08:07 from York passed Selby too early for the light but the 05:50 from the Cross was perfectly timed.
55 008 accelerated away from its Selby stop with 1S12, the 05:50 King's Cross to Aberdeen on 16 December 1981.
