The View From The Car Park
There hadn't been many opportunities to photograph Deltics during the first 11 months of 1981 but a December posting to Selby saved the day. Work prevented daytime photography but the hours of darkness were another matter.The York - King's Cross trains tended to depart from the bay platforms at the south end of York station and a trip to the station car park was required to get a reasonable angle for a photo. 55 021 was preparing to depart with 1A34, the 20:19 to Kings Cross on 7 December 1981.
