Engine Trouble
The sky was starting to clear when 55 010 paused at York with 1A45, the 22:55 Newcastle - King's Cross sleeper at 00:48 on 12 December 1981. As their withdrawal date approached, the Deltics became increasingly prone to failure. No.10 only made it as far as Doncaster before engine trouble caused its replacement.
