14 October 2010

This should have been the busiest morning on the Burghausen branch but only one of the five freights that were scheduled between 07:30 and 10:30 actually ran. Things picked up at lunchtime and there were actually two additional freights in the afternoon, possibly trains that should have run in the morning. Only one pair of 217s was seen but there were plenty of 225s around including a quadruple header on one train.

I was optimistic about the weather at first. The lights of the OMV refinery at Burghausen were visible at dawn from my hotel, 10km away, and that meant no fog. Unfortunately there was no fog because it was completely overcast and 10 degrees warmer than the previous two mornings. The cloud thinned a bit in the early afternoon but there was no sun at all and the cameras never felt the urge to leave their case.
