A Big Train for a Little Engine
It would be extremely unusual for a Ge4/4I to be entrusted with one of the Chur - St. Moritz Regio Expresses over the Albula Pass but they did regularly get to haul train RE1125 over the last leg from Samedan to St. Moritz. RE1125 conveyed the Bernina express coaches from Chur and the train engine continued to Pontresina with the tourists, leaving the St Moritz portion to continue behind whatever Samedan depot had available, often a Ge4/4I laying over between freight duties.No. 604 was photographed climbing from Samedan to Celerina with RE1125 on 9 January 2009.
