
Here Be Dragons
Longtanshan was located just over the Songhua River from the city of Jilin. The name translates as Dragon Pond Hill, the hill visible in the background of this picture, which is said to resemble a sleeping dragon. Another fire breathing beast was far from asleep on the morning of 10 March 1989 when an SL6 Pacific, probably SL 670, passed with train 426, the 04:10 from Wuchang, on the Harbin line, to Jilin.
