11 September 2005 dawned dull, grey and windy. At Chabuga depot, by then merely a minor servicing facility, QJ 7010 and QJ 7143 were photographed being prepared to work an early train to Daban. We left the line later that day. At the beginning of October, diesels took over much of the service between Daban and Chabuga and by early December it was all over. The world's last steam worked main line had succumbed to the diesel.
