QJ 7081 had just backed down onto the stock of train 6052 at Chabuga on the evening of 10 September 2005, replacing the DF4 diesel that brought the train in from Tongliao. Ahead lay 153 km of steam haulage, much of it uphill, before the next diesel took over at Daban.
