I gave up on cold, wet Spain to return to a cold, wet UK in time to see the final Deltic hauled specials on 2 January 1982. After making a complete hash of photographing 55 015 on the northbound train in dire conditions at Berwick upon Tweed, there was just enough time to reach Edinburgh in time to get the return working leaving.55 022 made a spectacular departure from Waverley with 1F50, the 14:30 Edinburgh - King's Cross "Deltic Scotsman Farewell".
