Revival
31428 was one of almost 70 Class 31s fitted with electric train heating in the early 1980s to allow the replacement of worn out DMUs on various routes. The loco is seen here approaching Chinley with 1M31, the 12:10 from Hull to Manchester, on 13 February 1985. The widespread introduction of new DMUs in the late 1980s ended this brief but most welcome revival.
