Round The Loop
99.5906 negotiated the turnback loop at Stiege with train 8951, the 08:30 from Quedlinburg to Eisfelder Talmühle, on 10 October 2015.The loop was built in the 1980s, at the same time as the Straßberg to Stiege line was reopened. Its purpose was to enable coal trains from Nordhausen to run through to Straßberg without having to run round at Stiege.
