The RM That Wasn't
It was a surprise to find RM 1247 plinthed outside the new Shenyang Railway Museum on 9 november 2011. However, a closer inspection shows that it's not all RM. The chimney cowling, smoke deflectors and running plate are all of the style carried by JS Class 2-8-2s. The boiler might be from a JS as well as they were thought to be very similar, if not identical. The cab has the distinctive ribbed sides of the RM and the rolling chassis is that of a Pacific but could conceivably be from an SL6.
