It's not often that freight trains are given priority over passengers but that was what was happening here. 377146 on 1J34, the 13:35 from Victoria to Southampton, was being overtaken by 70004 on 4O03, the 10:59 Lawley Street to Southampton MCT Freightliner, at Mount Pleasant on 11 July 2022. 1J34 would be held to allow 4O03 to run ahead of it over the double track section from Northam Junction to Southampton Central.
