The 07:25 Exeter St Davids to Waterloo had just passed the site of a landslip between Hook and Winchfield that closed both down lines for several weeks while repairs were made to the embankment. The temporary re-alignment of the Down Fast to replace the Up Fast, keeping a single line open in each direction, is visible in the background.
