Follow The Carron
The valley of the Carron Water provided the Aberdeen Railway with an easily graded route from the open farmland of Strathmore to the coast at Stonehaven, avoiding a stiff climb over the hills in between. 170 years after the line opened, it's still the only route into Aberdeen from the south. 43.315 and 43.314 entered the valley east of Carmont with 1S03, the 07:08 Leeds - Aberdeen service, on 14 May 2019.
