The narrow gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway was opened in 1902 and runs for 12 miles from Aberystwyth to Rheidol Falls. It's notable for having been BR's last steam worked line, until privatised in 1989. These days most trains are hauled by 2-6-2Ts built for the railway by the GWR in 1923/4.
Great Central Railway

The Great Central Railway operates an 8 mile section of the former GCR main line between Loughborough and Leicester using heritage steam and diesel traction. It is unusual in operating a 5 mile section of double track and has plans to extend the line to the outskirts of Nottingham.
My home country where I've been photographing trains since the late 1970s. Only a small fraction of my British material is online at present but it covers a wide range of loco classes, train types and photo locations, from northern Scotland to the south coast of England and from Deltics to DMUs.
Britain's railways are far less interesting than they were a few decades ago but despite the decline it is still possible to find trains and locations that are worth photographing.
