The Ponferrada-Villablino had 10 of these useful 2-6-2 tanks, built by Baldwin in 1919 for the opening of the line. Until the first Krauss-Engerths arrived in 1930s, the Baldwins handled all the traffic. As coal production increased and more Krauss-Engerths were acquired, the tanks were increasingly transferred to more menial duties.
Three tanks were outstationed at Villablino during my January 1981 visit and worked trips to the mines in the area. This picture shows No.3 being prepared for the afternoon's activities at Villablino on 2 January 1981.
