Bowing Out
Meridian took over operation of the München - Salzburg regional service from the start of the new timetable in December 2013. There weren't enough of the new class 430 EMUs in traffic initially so a number of loco hauled sets were hired to cover the shortfall until early April, by which time sufficient units were available.111.051 was about to depart München Hbf on the rear of M79045, the 21:44 to Salzburg Hbf, with 111.019 on the front. It was Friday 4 April 2014 and this would be the last time this particular train was booked to be loco hauled and the last revenue working for these two locos in Meridian service.
