On the Shunt
JF 1925 shunted the yards at Baotou steelworks on 12 April 1988. The JFs were the principal heavy freight locos of the Japanese controlled railways of northern and north-eastern China during the occupation and the design was perpetuated by the Chinese after the Liberation of 1949. By the late 1980s most of those that hadn't been withdrawn were relegated to shunting or industrial service.
