On Borrowed Time
JF.163 was photographed on the turntable at Harbin Depot on 9 April 1988, by which time it was 48 years old. Built as main line freight locomotives, the remaining JF Class 2-8-2s were largely used for shunting by the late 1980s and disappeared from the national railways within a few years, displaced by purpose built diesel shunters or newer steam locomotives.
