Strange Proportions
A fairly head on view of KD6 473, at the servicing point at Fushun West Pit on 31 December 1984, emphasises just how narrow the British loading gauge is compared to that of China. The cabs of these engines were exchanged for taller, wider versions after arrival in China and the chimneys and various boiler fittings were also replaced, producing a very strangely proportioned engine.
