Woking Approach
The Class 423 or 4-VEP EMUs were introduced in 1967 and were the last units built in the traditional suburban style, with external doors for every seating bay, allowing rapid loading and unloading. They were intended to be outer suburban units but frequently saw use on longer distance services as well. 3013 (423.013) approached Woking on the Up Slow with the 07:42 from Southampton Central to Waterloo on 23 June 1988.
