Taking The Scenic Route
A 10 day closure of the southern end of the WCML for engineering work over Easter 2026 resulted in the diversion of some freights via Banbury. 60055 led 6M25, the 14:27 stone empties from Wembley Yard to Penmaenmawr, away from Kings Sutton on the afternoon of 7 April. DCR had recently started moving stone from the North Wales quarry to Quainton Railhead for HS2 construction, reducing the established flow from Tytherington to one train a day, operated by GBRf.
