Llandudno Bound
45121 passed Diggle Junction box with 1M58, the 08:21 from Newcastle to Llandudno, on the morning of 17 April 1987.In early 1987 the hourly Trans-Pennine services were still loco hauled, largely by Class 45/1 Peaks but that was soon to change with the arrival of second-generation DMUs, rendering many of the remaining Class 45s surplus to requirements. 45121 was one of many taken out of traffic in 1987, withdrawn in June after derailing at Healey Mills.
