Centenary
801228 carries a slightly modified livery to mark 100 years since the formation of the original LNER in 1923. As well as a gold cabside flash replacing the usual silver one, there's a gold badge that's presumably supposed to look like a Doncaster worksplate (but doesn't) on the cabside. The unit was at Kings Cross on 1 March 2026 with 801204 behind.Despite only being in existence from 1923 to 1948 the LNER already had a Centenary by 1925. A1 Pacific No.2555, later rebuilt as an A3 and becoming No.60056 in BR days, was named 'Centenary', marking 100 years since the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1825.
