Repurposed 170s
Chiltern's class 168 DMUs come in 2, 3 and 4-car variants. A pair of the 2-car units, 168.327 and 168.321, had joined the main line at Oxford North and were approaching their destination with 1T19, the 09:30 from Marylebone to Oxford, when they were photographed on 26 May 2017.The 2-car class 168/3s were built as Class 170s and converted to class 168 specs when they transferred from TPE to Chiltern in 2015 and 2016. The 168s have different couplers to the 170s, allowing them to work with Class 165 and 166 units, and are fitted with tripcocks for compatibility with London Underground's signalling system.
