Grand Central has operated open access services on the ECML since 2007, initially serving the Kings Cross - Sunderland route but adding London - Bradford trains in 2010. GC is owned by Arriva and currently uses Class 180 DMUs on most services with a couple of Class 221 DMUs on Bradford trains.
