Running Late
Long distance stopping trains were still a good bet for steam haulage on the Northern Railway in the mid 1980s. The 02:30 from Delhi Jn to Moradabad Jn produced WG Class 2-8-2 8223 hauling 9 wedged coaches and a van on 4 November 1986. Train 2 MD was photographed approaching its destination at 12:56, a mere 3 hours 26 minutes late. The loco was built by CLW in 1959 or 1960.
