East Meets West
It's almost a quarter century since German reunification and many of the classes built during the years of division have been withdrawn. Two survivors, one from each side of the barbed wire, met at Oberwesel on 16 August 2013.143.568, a former Reichsbahn engine, led RE4293 towards Frankfurt, passing former Bundesbahn 111.121 on RE12190 going in the opposite direction. Another ex-DR engine, 143.009, was at the back of the southbound train.
