Miracles Do Happen

60026 spent a short period on hire to DCR at the end of 2025 and hauled 6M89 on 20 December, its last working before returning to GBRf and an uncertain future. The 09:11 Middleton Towers - Chaddesden Sidings sand train was photographed passing Asfordby Sewage Works, running around an hour late. 60026 was removed at Chaddesden and went to Toton light engine. 60028 took the sand train forward to Ravenhead Sidings.

The light had been poor all day but in the knowledge that this might be the last chance to get a pic of 60026, or indeed any GBRf Class 60, I went out anyway, not expecting to get anything special. With perfect timing, the cloud rolled back just before the Tug appeared and the shot was taken. A few minutes later and the light had lost all its power as the sun dropped into the murk above the horizon.
