Lumo
The latest open access operator to compete for ECML business is Lumo, a FirstGroup subsidiary, which runs trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow using Class 803 IETs. These differ from the previous IET designs by not having any diesel engines, so are EMUs, not BMMUs. 803004 waited to leave Kings Cross with 5Y84, the 16:21 ECS to Bounds Green, on 10 December 2025. The unit had arrived earlier on 1E84 from Edinburgh.
