Redbank Vans
45137 passed Diggle with 4M19, the diverted 09:40 Newcastle to Redbank empty vans, on the morning of 17 April 1987, a train normally routed via Hebden Bridge. These were the return empties of one or more overnight newspaper trains from Manchester to Newcastle, a type of traffic that had been carried by rail for over 100 years but would come to an abrupt end a year later. The loco didn't last that long, being withdrawn two months after the photo was taken.( Thanks to Thane o Fife on Freightmaster for providing details of the working )
