Northwich Limestone
20304 and 20303 approached New Mills South Junction from the Chinley direction with a loaded limestone train from Tunstead Sidings bound for the ICI works at Northwich on 29 May 1986. After running for decades this flow ceased at the beginning of 2025 with the closure of Lostock Works. These two locos shouldn't be confused with the Class 20/3s refurbished for DRS in 1995, many of which are still in existence today. They only carried the 203xx numbers for a few months, between April and December 1986, then reverted to their previous numbers. 20134 (20303) was scrapped in 1991 following serious collision damage but 20168 (20304) is still in service as part of the HNRC fleet and is usually based at Hope Cement Works.
