165107 left the third rail behind at Wokingham Junction and headed for Guildford with 5O78, the 14:20 ECS from Reading, on 9 March 2025. After only 12 miles, the unit would reach the third rail again at Aldershot South Jn. There is a strong case for filling the gap here and on the 17 miles between Shalford Jn and Reigate to complete the electrification of the Reading - Gatwick route but nothing is likely to happen for years, if ever.
