Stay Of Execution
Whittlesea's semaphore signals were expected to be replaced by colour lights within weeks of my visit on 1 March 2025. One of the replacement signals is visible to the left of the semaphore in this view of 66778 passing the box with 4M21, the 12:19 Felixstowe North to Trafford Park containers. The new signals should have already been in use but their commissioning had apparently been delayed until all the affected drivers had been trained.
