The oldest locos in regular service in China today are almost certainly these ED85 electrics on the Fushun Mining Railway. The design dates from 1929 but most of the locos still in use were built in the early 1940s. In contrast, most of China's remaining steam locomotives were built after 1980.
No.1216, built by Mitsubishi in 1943, propelled a supplies train out of the opencast mine on 10 October 2008.
